Amphibians of the Vysočina Region
As a part of the Vysočina Region Biodiversity project, we process the occurrence and spread of two representatives of rare and endangered amphibians (Amphibia) - Fire Salamander (Salamandra salamandra) and Great Crested Newt (Triturus cristatus) - in the Vysočina Region. Part of the outcome will be a comprehensive list of literature dealing with the spread of these species at the concerned area; the maps of their current, eventually historical, spread will be prepared. List of most important localities of the Vysočina Region will be made and the localities not protected yet will be proposed for protection. The project will include verification and complementation of their current spread by field survey, excerpt of historical as well as present literature available and cooperation with other experts. As a partial outcome, there will be a commented list of all species of amphibians found in the Vysočina Region. Popularising handout will be issued within the project, informing about the amphibians of the Vysočina Region. The results of the project will be presented at this web page, where they will be available for anyone interested.
